Russel Cedrik Pilpa of the Eastern Visayas Center for Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities (EVCADD) encouraged student leaders as he supported ONEVisayas’ intensive training seminar for youth leaders in Pastrana, Leyte.
The young Pilpa surprised the training facilitators with his ability to pleasantly communicate with each of the training participants while he assisted the ONEVisayas Secretariat in providing refreshments and food to them during the seminar.
Training coach Val Kent Basea told the Visayan Business Post that the support given by children with autism from EVCADD to our future leaders is a significant milestone as ONEVisayas moves closer towards achieving full inclusivity in its social development activities.
‘The recent assistance given by EVCADD students was a rare opportunity. We are honored that these students with autism taught our trainees that they can learn from the essence of children who are undergoing adaptive challenges’, ONEVisayas’ Executive Director Frank Villablanca told VBP, adding that a core part of a youth leaders’ peculiar expectation is to give attention to the needs of particular segments of society. ‘It was a humbling experience for our youth leaders’, Villablanca said.
ONEVisayas thanked EVCADD School Administrator Irish De Paz for personally accompanying EVCADD students Russel Cedrik Pilpa, Lyana Olobia, and Doc Victor Cabañero to help in the training.
