Catbalogan City News – After the example of the City of Maasin in Southern Leyte, the government of the City of Catbalogan in Samar has banned smoking in public within the city limits.
The City Health Office said it has begun implementing the city’s new anti–smoking ordinance.
Prior to the announcement, the city government conducted a sustained public information campaign highlighting the health effects of smoking.
The city’s anti–smoking law now strictly prohibit smoking in private and government offices, schools, restaurants, businesses, churches, parks, public market, public transport terminals, gas stations, and even inside vehicles.
Smoking has also been prohibited inside cockpits and other closed places including areas where the public come to gather.
The city government is expecting not only its residents but also visitors to the city to abide by the new regulation.
